REO Sentinel™ Applications Click to expand/minimize

A. The REO Sentinel™ was designed to be installed in any vacant location such as apartments, condos, single family homes, second /vacation homes, storage facilities, warehouses and other commercial properties.

A. The REO Sentinel™ has demonstrated other applications in the Medical Industry, Security Industry, Insurance Industry, Marine Industry and Building Industry where builders need to protect assets in pre-sale environments.

A. Yes and No. The REO Sentinel™ operates on its own battery, without electricity so constant movement by people will continually set off motion alarms and pictures being taken which will shorten battery life dramatically. However if you go away for a vacation or an extended period of time and you wish to turn on the REO Sentinel™ to notify you by email or text message of any detected events while you’re away that is an excellent use of our product!

The Base REO Sentinel™ Click to expand/minimize

A. The REO Sentinel™ device is delivered with its own special Lithium Batteries, cellular radio, a second wireless radio to “talk” with supported remote sensors, an array of sensors capable of measuring rapid changes in temperature and humidity, presence of toxic gases such as Propane, Butane and Methane, loud pulsing noises, motion as well as a VGA quality color camera (no video).

A. No. It operates on a custom designed cellular network capable of sending only data.

A. No. We have cleverly built in a smart microphone capable of “listening” for a high decibel, pulsing , screech type alarm common to most external smoke detectors.

A. Typically not. The intelligence of the device will “listen” for the pulsing alarm common to most smoke detectors to remain constant for nearly 30 seconds. In most cases an Emergency vehicle sounding its siren will have gone by during that period, thus reducing the chances of false reporting of a smoke alarm.

A. See the Installation Section for more information, but the best general location is facing a well trafficked area between the front door and Living Area or the Living Area and Kitchen for residential properties.

A. Unless there is enough smoke of any kind to set off a smoke detector within range of the REO Sentinel™, it will not detect Marijuana. It will also not trigger the gas sensor within the REO Sentinel.

A. Yes. It will show up as a normal attachment in the form of a .jpg image.

Remote Sensors “attached” to the REO Sentinel™ Click to expand/minimize

A. Currently there are several remote sensors that send a wireless signal to the REO Sentinel™ including a Window/Door sensor and a water sensor. REO Sentinel™ continues to develop and qualify new and innovative sensors aimed at deterring theft and vandalism and will make them available through our website.

A. Remote sensors are wireless devices and send short wave Radio frequency transmissions to the Base REO Sentinel™ when activity is detected.

A. Typically anywhere in your property where water damage could occur. Some suggested areas of placement are: sump pumps, basements, water heaters, laundry rooms, kitchens, bathrooms. Placement is not limited to this list. Placement should be anywhere you have concerns of water damage occurring.

A. Currently we recommend 6-8 per property.

A. Approximately 100 feet is the maximum distance depending on the construction of walls.

Installation Click to expand/minimize

A. Typically a 3-step ladder, a Phillips head screwdriver and 2 AA batteries for each sensor. For your convenience, the instruction manual is located here, Installation Instructions. You can print this manual or save it to your computer for future reference. The manual lists the tools required for installation.

A. Window/Door remote sensors each require two (2) AA batteries, (not included). The water sensor requires two (2) AA batteries and one (1) 9V battery (not included).

A. The REO Sentinel™ base unit should be placed where most of the “foot traffic” or activity within the house should take place. Do not face the unit directly toward sunlight or an uncovered window. Prior to installing the unit, take a photo using your cell phone or other digital camera so that you can preview the area where the unit will capture activity. If you do not like the view from your device, you will probably not like the view from REO Sentinel™. Try a few locations throughout the property prior to making your selection. If you do not like the location of a unit following installation, simply move the unit to a more desired location in the property.

A. Please refer to the installation manual or the back of the Property Installation card enclosed with your Base REO Sentinel™ device. You will see references to an “Activation Button” which can be used as a reset to clear memory and allow you to re-register each remote sensor in the order and location desired.

A. The instruction manual should have been included with your order, however, if you need additional copies of the manual, please click here Installation Instructions. You can view, print or save the manual for future reference.

A. Contact customer service by calling 877-815-7760. Customer service will need the Unit’s ID tag number along with some information from you to deactivate the unit.
